Thanksgiving Feast in Mrs. Curtsinger's Classroom

Today our class, Mrs. Cursinger's class, and Mrs. Pinkley's class had a Thanksgiving Feast. We had Indian Corn Stew, corn muffins, blueberry muffins, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and pumpkin pie. Since we dressed up as Indians yesterday for the feast in the cafeteria, we decided to dress-up as Pilgrims for this feast. The kids really enjoyed eating lunch in Mrs. Curtinger's classroom rather than in the cafeteria like normal.

Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast In The Cafeteria

Yesterday the Kindergartners had a Thanksgiving Feast in the cafeteria. All of the kids parents were invited to come to school and enjoy the feast with them. Several parents showed up and the kids were so excited. We dressed up as Indians for the occasion.

Red Ribbon Week- Balloon Launch

This afternoon we had a balloon launch for Red Ribbon Week. Each student in the Primary building got a red balloon. Before launching the balloons the students chanted "I have the power to be grug free!" three times and then all let their balloon go at the same time. The sky was full of red. It was lots of fun and the kids really enjoyed it.

Will the pumpkin float or sink?

Today we did a science experiment on floating. We wanted to see if a pumpkin would float or sink. Prior to this experiment we measured the height, circumference, and weight of our class pumpkin. Before actually measuring, each student had the opportunity to make an estimation. The students have learned that an estimation is a guess. Many of the students got very close and made some really good estimations. The student's estimations about whether the pumpkin would float or sink was very interesting. Many students thought that since the pumpkin was so big and heavy that it would definitely sink to the bottom of the basin of water. In the end most of the students were very surprised to find that the pumpkin did not sink and that it float.
